Guest Story from an Anchored in Faith Traveler
I just returned from a Catholic Singles Cruise to Alaska with Anchored in Faith Travel, and my experience far outweighed my expectations. Alaska has been on my bucket list for over 10 years, so when the opportunity presented itself at a price I could afford, I jumped at it.
At first, I was apprehensive about traveling by myself because I tend to be shy and introverted, but I was pleasantly surprised to discover that I had nothing to worry about. Traveling with complete strangers turned out to be so much fun and was filled with unexpected blessings. As soon as I can secure the PTO from work, I plan to book another trip with Anchored in Faith Travel!
Alaska truly is the Last Frontier. Pictures or even video footage cannot generate the same emotions you will feel when you see the majesty of the snow-capped mountains, cascading waterfalls, and gentle tides of ice-cold water. You must view with your own eyes the vast deep ocean to understand what Our Lord meant when He told St. Faustina that He has an “ocean of mercy” for souls. All that and more can bring even the most stoic person to tears of gratitude and joy to our loving Father.
However, since there are numerous blogs and reviews on how amazing cruises to Alaska are, I’m going to skip that part and focus on why you should book your next vacation or pilgrimage with Anchored in Faith Travel, especially if you are single or a solo traveler.
Even if you are not looking for marriage, the opportunity to meet other like-minded Catholics who are on fire for their faith and desire to grow closer to Jesus will be present on trips like these. During my trip, I found several people who had similar interests in theology, philosophy, and psychology and who had even read a number of the same books and YouTube documentaries that I really enjoyed. While you will meet people, the primary goal of a Catholic Singles cruise is spiritual and personal growth rather than immediate matchmaking. So, if you are hoping to find that special lady or gentleman, this approach can make the experience more enjoyable and less stressful.
Anchored in Faith Travel prioritizes the need for the sacraments and spiritual guidance. On my Alaskan trip, we had an amazing priest, Fr. Joe, and religious sister, Sr. Debbie, who saw to our spiritual needs. There were many opportunities for Confession, Holy Mass, and Adoration, along with spiritual guidance tailored to each individual's needs. Once again, words fail to describe the feelings when you see Our Lord in the monstrance in front of a bay window with the ocean behind Him.
For myself, I felt my faith grow deeper. There were evenings when we gathered to pray the Rosary together, and through those moments we learned about one another—our joys, desires, and especially how we could pray for one another.
Many of the people I talked to inspired me to read different books, look into different Catholic communities, and one person even rekindled my love of learning and relook at that philosophical ethics course that I told myself I was too busy to take.
The number one reason people go on a cruise is for relaxation and fun. But being on a Catholic cruise doesn’t mean you can’t enjoy yourself. Cruises are floating cities where there is never a time that is dull or boring.
With activities such as pools, spas, entertainment shows, and excursions to culturally or spiritually significant destinations, you can unwind while exploring new places and even create a mini pilgrimage if you so choose. Onboard activities like dance parties, game nights, and themed evenings create opportunities to form friendships and potentially meaningful connections.
However you choose to experience these things, whether with others or on your own, just promise you'll have a good time!
If you still need persuading to go on a Catholic Singles cruise or Catholic pilgrimage with Anchored in Faith Travel, just talk to one of the many and growing number of cruisers who have worked with Shelly and let her take the stress out of planning an amazing travel experience.
From my first email and text exchange to gather information to the final email with pictures from our trip, the planning and execution of the journey were flawless. The community and fellowship I found on this trip has changed me and encouraged me to fall deeper in love with Our Lord and His Blessed Mother.
Combining faith, fellowship, and fun in one setting can create memories and connections that last long after the cruise ends.
